What You'll Do:
- Manage transparent driver dispatch process
- Plan, dispatch, and monitor all activities associated with
assigned drivers to ensure all customer expectations are met or
exceeded.
- Effectively monitor and communicate all concerns the customer
has pertaining to shipment of freight to ensure customer service
and public safety are the highest priority
- Proactively report to the Transportation Supervisor exceptions,
or issues, related to the dispatching task for resolution
- Daily yard checks - Ensure timely and accurate completion
- Ensure timely pick-up of returned product and inform customers
and internal departments of return pick-up and delivery status as
needed
- Daily monitoring of hours of service (HOS) compliance and
inform the Transportation Supervisor of non-compliance per Company
policy.
- Validate PeopleNet compliance for Hours of Service (HOS)
reporting
- Review paper logs for driver compliance as needed per safety
regulations (temporary drivers, ELD outage, etc)
- Review Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR), and schedule
maintenance services when required
- Monitor on-time delivery performance throughout the day, take
action, or escalate as needed, to ensure on time execution of
delivery
- Proactively ensure customers are informed of delivery
exceptions (Late arrivals, re-schedule. etc)
- Reconcile delivery/backhaul documents and enter backhaul data
daily into Backhaul Tracker (as directed).Transportation Supervisor
Assistant will also be responsible for supporting the
Transportation Supervisor in these essential duties:
- Facilitate, manage and support all internal reporting
requirements.
- Minimize inbound and outbound freight cost through focused cost
management of plant and regional backhaul, fuel mpg and cpg, asset
utilization, vehicle maintenance, accident and injury prevention,
route optimization and other major cost categories.
- Ensure that equipment and driver performance standards are
meeting company specifications and expectations.
- Use of logistics software for daily management including
reconciliation of actual vs. planned miles, driver fuel receipts,
maintenance PO authorization.
- Measure and report daily/weekly/monthly KPI performance
results.
- Provide support and guidance as a backup in the absence of
integral team members. This may include, but not limited to,
assisting with driver corrective action procedures for policy
non-compliance as directedOther primary duties and responsibilities
include the following; however, Management reserves the right to
assign or reassign other appropriate duties to this job at any
time. This document excludes the marginal functions of the position
that are incidental to the performance of fundamental job
duties.
Requirements
What You'll Need:
- Education/experience: High School Diploma and a minimum of 3
years of transportation/logistics management experience.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Software Programs (Word, Excel,
Access, etc.).
- Strong knowledge of FMCSA regulations.
- Experience supporting CDL-A drivers.
- The ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Strong oral, written, and organizational skills. Ideal
Candidate Possesses These Attributes:
- Previous Fleet or Over the Road Dispatching experience
- Safety and Service oriented
- Strong working knowledge of Transportation and Logistics
concepts, methods, and practices
- Experience in high paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to prioritize daily tasks and to effectively multitask
in an environment of multiple priorities
- Flexibility to react to daily exceptions that arise in daily
execution of plans in a positive manner
- Ability to succeed in a matrixed organization and reach
consensus with all stakeholders
