Senior Transportation Compliance Specialist - #16556 Company Dairy Farmers of America Area of Interest Compliance Job Title Senior Transportation Compliance Specialist Description Oversee and support the continuing development of DFA's Transportation Compliance Program to ensure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulatory requirements and company policies. Communicate and collaborate with business units throughout the organization to help mitigate risk and design solutions to manage transportation compliance. Evaluate the adequacy of controls to help prevent, detect, and address violations of regulations and internal policies. Provide guidance regarding DFA compliance program practices and compliance best practices. Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partner with management to continue populating the Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system with transportation regulatory requirements and controls, including Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements
  • Identify and document operational, compliance, and technology controls to address risks
  • Evaluate internal controls to ensure compliance needs are met and documented
  • Collaborate with cross-functional business units in the development of risk mitigation solutions, document risk mitigation plans to completion, and provide guidance to address changes in the regulatory environment
  • Assist in the development, maintenance, and standardization of new and existing transportation-related policies
  • Support management with the planning and implementation of cross-functional projects pertaining to compliance initiatives
  • Promote strong and effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the organization
  • Influence the work of others outside of direct authority to ensure project milestones and deliverables are met and issues and risks are mitigated and communicated
  • Monitor transportation compliance activity across the organization

    • Bachelor's degree in business, logistics, supply chain, or related discipline required
    • 5 to 8 years of compliance or business process related work (analysis, development, improvement), with time spent in compliance, regulatory, legal, risk management, or internal audit
    • Transportation compliance experience working with commercial vehicles and equipment (tankers, tractor trailers, straight trucks, etc.) preferred
    • Experience with driver qualification file management software preferred
    • Certification and/or License - r ecognized compliance, risk and/or audit certification preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
      • Able to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization
      • Strong organizational and project management skills
      • In-depth knowledge of internal control practices and compliance principles
      • Able to independently lead projects and effectively influence across a broad range of business disciplines
      • Able to review complex processes and identify or recommend best practice controls to ensure compliance
      • Able to present a professional image to obtain the confidence, trust, and cooperation of stakeholders
      • Able to demonstrate integrity and commitment to the highest ethical standards and personal values, including proven ability to maintain strict confidentiality
      • Able to simultaneously handle multiple assignments and prioritize work assignments, in a fast-paced environment, to meet customer needs
      • Able to work in a team-oriented collaborative environment, as well as work independently with minimum supervision
      • Self-motivated and able to provide high quality deliverables on time
      • Able to analyze, problem solve and implement change managemen t
      • Able to work with accuracy and attention to detail
      • Able to research and document regulatory issues
      • Proficient with Microsoft Office/Office 365 Suite
      • Able to learn new technologies and processes in a changing environment
