In Kansas City, Honeywell Federal Manufacturing & Technologies (FM&T) manages and operates the U.S. Department of Energy/National Nuclear Security Administration's (NNSA) Kansas City National Security Campus.--This state-of-the-art engineering, manufacturing and sourcing facility produces a wide array of intricate components to deliver trusted national security products and government services primarily for the NNSA.--Honeywell FM&T's culture of integrity, commitment and continuous improvement enables them to deliver responsive, collaborative, and innovative management and technology services and products that translate into cutting edge solutions to complex national security issues.
The Instructional Designer is responsible for effective analysis, design, development and evaluation of training materials across the organization. Course development will include online e-learning, virtual classroom, and live instructor-led.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform in-depth needs analysis to uncover learner and organizational needs, identify performance gaps and changes in work processes, procedures and technologies
  • Work with subject matter experts to determine the best learning solution for the situation
  • Design and develop various types of learning programs and content (e-learning, classroom, webinars) using adult learning methodology.
  • Act as project manager for implementation of learning solutions
  • Create test questions, activities, and exercises to measure the trainee's learning
    Basic Qualification Needed to be Qualified for the Role:
    • US citizenship in order to obtain US Dept. of Energy "Q" level security clearance
    • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, organizational development, education, communication or a related field
    • Minimum 3 years of experience as an instructional designer
    • Minimum 3 years of experience and advanced proficiency using e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline

      Additional qualifications that the ideal candidate would possess:
      • 3+ years of experience with learning management systems preferred
      • 3+ years of experience using graphics programs to create supporting graphics, photos, screen captures to illustrate learning points
      • Experience in conducting needs analysis
      • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage instructional design projects
      • Proficient use of Microsoft Office
      • Experience in manufacturing or technical business
      • Project management experience
      • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
      • Demonstrated effective interpersonal, influence, collaboration and listening skills to interpret client needs and drive results
      • Excellent organizational skills
      • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
