learning.Internship Position: Driver Manager InternshipAs an intern
with Knight transportation, you will partner with our most
passionate Driver Manager Mentors to lead a fleet of 10+ drivers
and manage driver availability to maximize productivity of their
fleet. Routinely review Profit/Loss (P/L) for assigned area and
find ways to maximize profitability. Develop a personal and
professional relationship with each Driving Associate that leads to
exceptional safety, service, equipment care, fuel performance and
retention.Coach Driving Associates to achieve their weekly mileage
goal by effectively managing home time and hours of
service.Maximize P/L for all assigned tractors.Collaborate with
Planner(s) and assign drivers to lanes that best serve both the
company and the driver.Discuss each load and the service
expectations with every driver on every plan.Personally, coach each
Driving Associate to identify opportunities for improvement and
actively provide the training/coaching needed to help Driving
Associate reach their highest potential and performance.Proactively
communicate with Driving Associate about safety expectations
including pre-trip inspections, following distance, and route
conditions.Ensure payroll accuracy for assigned drivers.Provide
timely and meaningful in-person reviews for each Driving
Associate.Track freight to its final destination to ensure on time
delivery.Work closely with sales and account teams to ensure our
customers have the most current information.Proactively work to
assist other team members in achieving the organization's
objectives.Qualifications: Education: Currently pursuing a degree
from an accredited college or university, or completion of
Associates degree with a focus on Business or related field
required. Skills and Abilities: Possess desire to learn and grow in
knowledge of the transportation industry and company.The ability to
place safety and driver retention at forefront of all
activities.Willingness to commit to company's vision.Flexible and
able to quickly grasp and apply new information and/or
concepts.Excellent and professional communication skills.Able to
receive information and/or feedback from a wide variety of
people.Must be a team player.Able to multi-task. Learning
Objectives: Learn the necessary skills in order to effectively
dispatch a small fleet of trucks with a keen focus on Knight
culture.Primary Responsibilities: The candidate will understand the
five tools of successful dispatch with a focus on lowering driver
turnover by demonstrating Knight culture.Thoroughly update a trucks
status via Check Call functionAbility to talk a driver through all
aspects of a dispatchSuccessful Five Tool Dispatch

Summer/Fall Hours per Week: 20+Pay: Coming into program after
completing freshman year base is $15-$17/hr. Coming into program
after completing sophomore year base is $16-$18/hr.Coming into
program after completing junior year base pay is $17 $19/hr.While

ParticipationUtilizing a Tell/Tell Show/Show method of training
with your personal mentor in addition to our online Knight
University instructional series.Supervision: Each Intern will be
assigned a Mentor that will guide them through-out the length of
the program.Professional Development: Interns will attend a
High-Performance Workplace Leadership Training, which will provide
the framework, knowledge and basic skills necessary for a leader to
understand their role in creating and managing in a high performing
environment. Develop essential skills in the transportation
industry such as communication, planning, managing drivers, as well
as the ability to develop skills in the following programs: AS400
Genesis PowerBI Zonar Ground Traffic Control Microsoft Office Suite
