American Midwest Fleet Solutions (AMFS), a Safe Fleet company, is a leader in commercial vehicle upfit. The Installation Team Lead will direct a team of Installation Technicians and will travel to our client's facilities, throughout the US, to assure proper training, adherence to standards and quality completion of installations for our national clients.

The Installation Team Lead will provide oversight of both direct and 3rd party installers, support project management, and perform vehicle installs directly for a variety of products on commercial vehicle applications. AMFS also leverages a large network of independent Network Installers (NWI's) to perform field installs and service for our commercial vehicle clients - this role will also provide training and oversight to these professionals.

Products we upfit include:
Video, telematic and mapping systems
Alarms and other 12VDC vehicle systems
Van interiors and ladder racks
Tarping systems
Various other vehicle accessories used on commercial vehicle applications

This individual will provide oversight of the company Installations Technicians and NWI's including:
Providing insight and evaluation of third-party installation companies
Evaluating Technician capabilities and identifying areas of expertise or further training
Establishing job specific installation requirements and writing SOP's as necessary
Providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance when challenges arise
Ensuring professionalism and code of conduct adherence at all locations
Ensuring jobs are completed on time and on budget
Ensuring quality control of installation and service calls
On large projects, this individual will support project management by:
Provide key support to the Major Projects Manager as required
Assist as part of the coordination team to ensure product, supplies and people are where they need to be, when they need to be there
Ensuring inventory control by leading inventory audits, reporting shortages and defects in a timely fashion
Aligning and coordinating the correct Installation Technicians and NWI's to the project
Support scheduling of work hours between clients, Technicians and NWI's
Track project schedule and status of each vehicle installation using our digital quality control and tracking application
Facilitate accurate and timely communication between customers, account reps, project managers, Technicians and NWI's
This individual will also perform installations and service calls as required to:
Provide rapid response to customer needs when Technicians or NWI's are unavailable
Be "first in/last out" on new projects and pilot installations
Be the point-person for high profile clients
Perform regional installs independently or in conjunction with Technicians and/or NWI's
Be the subject matter expert (SME) on high profile installation questions or trouble shooting

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies:

Effective, concise written communication skills - ability to document installation requirements into instructions that can be easily followed by others, leveraging pictures and simple step by step description
Problem Solving - ability to identify and resolve problems in the field
Masterful 12VDC electrical competencies to ensure high quality upfit of electrical systems on commercial vehicle applications
Mechanical aptitude - ability to work with mechanical products, read install diagrams and layout drawings.
Project Management - develops project plans and schedules; manages cross functional deliverable to meet customer deadlines, coordinate's project deliverables
Computer Skills - ability to use web-based programs to manage install projects, track quality control, and manage schedules

This position will include travel to various Safe Fleet and AMFS client's facilities within a specified radius
Must have reliable transportation and a driver's license in good standing to travel via auto to installation sites
Must be able to stay, at company expense, for extended periods of time at a hotel in a client's work area
Must be able to work off-hours to accommodate client's business hours - 2nd/3rd Shift with weekend availability
Must be able to comply with a variable work schedule - 3 weeks on, and 1 week off
Travel will be required and is expected to exceed 70%
A minimum of 10 years of experience in 12-volt installations and/or commercial vehicle installs or upfits
A minimum of 5+ years' supervisory experience
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret engineering drawings and wiring schematics
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to translate company requirements and information so that direct reports understand an comply
Microsoft Operating Systems and Desktop Software including MS Office, Word, PPT, Excel
Ability to use propitiatory web and tablet application to manage employee timesheets and expenses, quality control and project tracking
