Work Hours/Shift:

Part Time

4 days a week


You Will Be Responsible For:

  • Coordinate and implement social services for families.
  • Assist Manager with variety of tasks including talking to prospective families and assisting with the admission process.
  • Provide ongoing follow up and counseling with families.
  • Provide direct services to children in one-on-one or group setting.
  • Assist with team conferences by taking case history information and preparing reports.
  • Facilitate parent support groups.
  • Aid in the child's transition to a new program or school district.
  • Assist in obtaining insurance benefits, equipment, and other needs specific to each family.
  • Train and educate students, interns, volunteers, and patient’s family members.
  • Maintain a professional team relationship with co-workers by being considerate of workloads, assisting with duties, and being supportive toward their continued growth.
  • Work collaboratively with Manager in responding to crises in the families served.
  • Respond to inquiries from community members looking for services in a helpful manner.
  • Assist with organizing and promoting training/speakers for families we serve.
  • Communicate honestly and confronts issues and problems in a private setting.
  • Respect each discipline’s expertise and knowledge; doesn’t question someone’s expertise in front of the patient/family.
  • Punctual with returning phone calls and emails, and for scheduled work hours, meetings, and appointments with families.
  • Utilize computer access confidentially, appropriately and following HIPAA guidelines, including appropriate use of social media.
  • Demonstrate the initiative to learn and applies new processes and procedures by attending in-services, pertinent continuing education seminars, and reading professional journals and sharing that information with team members. Report any equipment or maintenance problems and safety concerns to Office Coordinator and/or Director.
  • Demonstrate the ability to prioritize and organize workload in an efficient and productive manner in the assigned work time. Demonstrate ability to accommodate to constant changes in schedule and environment. Complete all charges and documentation in accordance with department practice, policy, and procedure in a timely fashion. Provide quality patient care skills/procedures in a manner that takes into account the special needs of the patient, e.g., age, culture, learning ability, etc.

What You Will Need:

· Master’s Degree

· Up to 1 Year of Position-Related Experience

· 1 to 2 Years of Hospital Based Experience


  • Kansas Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) OR
  • Kansas Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker (LSCSW)




Job Summary:

Britain Development Center (Britain IDC) is an early intervention program for children from birth through six years of age with special needs. The Pathways Program is an early intervention program within Britain IDC that is specifically designed to serve the needs of young children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. 


The Social Worker at the Britain IDC must understand the specific needs of young children with special needs and their families and have experience in counseling.  S/he is responsible for providing direct service and consultative support to families.  S/he is a vital member of the team and helps families access necessary resources in the community and supports them in their journey of raising a child with special needs.


S/he must work within the parameters of the Behavioral Sciences Regulatory Board’s standards and established policies, protocols and procedures. 


The social worker demonstrates leadership/management skills and a commitment to professional accountability and growth. The social worker serves as a role model for the mission, vision and values of AdventHelath Shawnee Mission.
