This position is located in the National institute of Food and Agriculture.

In this position you will serve as a data analytics coordinator, responsible for the planning, development, coordination, and delivery of programmatic, accountability, and financial information from agency information systems.

  • Plans and organizes the retrieval and delivery of programmatic, accountability, and financial information from agency information systems in consultation and coordination with the agency's science staff and other agency business staff.
  • Conducts analyses to document science program and portfolio impacts using historical reporting data; prepares summary reports needed to inform stakeholders, respond to executive branch information requests, and support congressional budget requests.
  • Prepares clear and effective reports that summarize agency contributions toward the achievement of USDA's strategic goals and priorities.
  • Prepares science program impact examples for the agency's congressional budget justification and science program impact articles for use on the agency website and for social media.
  • Manages the indexing, review, and reporting on agency crosscutting information in consultation and coordination with agency NPLs and the Budget Office.
  • Directs and coordinates the design, preparation, and dissemination of special programmatic, accountability, and financial information to serve the needs of USDA and the States.
  • Serves as an expert advisor on new, innovative, or alternative technologies, methods, and approaches for access, transfer, display, and utilization of programmatic, accountability, and financial information in agency information systems.

Basic Requirements:

  1. Degree: biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.


  1. Combination of education and experience: Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.


Specialized Experience:Specialized experience is experience directly related to the position to be filled. Specialized experience must be described for each grade level advertised. The specialized experience requirements for this position are: Qualifying experience for GS-13 includes one year of specialized experience comparable to GS-12 which is directly related to the work of this position and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position. For this position, specialized experience isplanning and organizing the retrieval and delivery of programmatic, accountability, and financial information from information systems using qualitative and quantitative methods to collect data; utilizing data collection methods and statistical sampling approaches to conduct data analyses; and preparing reports and presentations on the results of analytical projects.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
