The position of Software Engineer III is a part of our Toxicology business unit, principally located in our Kansas City, Missouri office. The eScreen Softw are Engineer is a creative software professional capable of moving quickly while breaking down and solving complex problems. RESPONSIBILITIES: - Collaborate closely with the team to take shared responsibility for the overall efforts to which the team has committed itself - Interact with users to clarify requirements and take ownership for the quality of software - Break larger projects into smaller ones that can be delivered iteratively, using an Agile mindset - Work with existing toolsets while bringing new ideas and approaches into the team - Support post-deployment fallouts on projects worked on and released to production BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or a related degree, or equivalent work experience - Experience in one or more of the following: JavaScript, C#, ASP.NET, ASP.NET Core, and MVC PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: - 3 or more years of enterprise software development in a team environment with the Microsoft Technology Stack - Knowledge of Microservices design architecture - Experience in one or more modern front-end technologies such as React - Understanding of object-oriented design and development such as SOLID Principles - Experience writing unit tests, test-driven development, and mocking - Experience designing and writing restful web services - Experience using Entity Framework - Microsoft Azure or other certifications - Detailed understanding of relational database design principles - Working knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc. COMPETENCIES: - Problem-solving and decision-making skills - Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment - Ability to set and meet tight deadlines and function well under pressure About Abbott: At Abbott, we're committed to helping people live their best possible life through the power of health.
