Responsibilities The Director, Human Resources is responsible for
overseeing Human Resources management and departmental operations
of the Community Blood Center, a division of New York Blood Center
Enterprises. This role develops and implements innovative HR
strategies in support of divisional and regional business goals,
enterprise HR initiatives, and ensures a top workplace culture and
positive employee engagement. Under the direct leadership of the
Executive Director, Human Resources, NYBCe, this position will
provide strategic HR guidance to the development and implementation
of the Midwest organizational structure. Responsibilities
include:
- Partners with the leadership team to understand the business
strategy and objectives and execute the enterprises' human resource
and talent strategy in support of divisional objectives,
particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs,
recruiting, retention, employee engagement, and succession
planning.
- Acts as a change agent as the enterprise continues to optimize
HR programs.
- Provides support and guidance to HR generalists, management,
and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions
and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine
tasks in delicate circumstances such as leave of absence
administration, providing reasonable accommodations, investigating
allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
- Ensures all HR programs are administered in a high quality,
consistent, equitable and fair manner and are completed ensuring
compliance with all programs, protocols, and timelines established
internally within the enterprise and/or by external regulatory
agencies.
- Manages the lifecycle talent acquisition process for the
division, which may include recruitment, interviewing, hiring, and
onboarding of -qualified job applicants, particularly for
Directorial, exempt, and professional roles; collaborates with
departmental Directors to understand skills and competencies
required for openings.
- Partner with compensation and benefits to analyze regional
trends, review data and propose competitive base and incentive pay
recommendations to ensure the organization attracts and retains top
talent. Administers all divisional pay programs within enterprise
guidelines ensuring consistency and equity.
- Coaches and develops director and above levels within division
on recruiting challenges, successful employee relations strategies,
and effective performance management and career development
strategies.
- In partnership with divisional management, creates learning and
development programs and initiatives that provide internal
development opportunities for employees.
- Oversees all divisional employee disciplinary meetings,
terminations, and investigations.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment
laws and regulations.
- Reports on key divisional HR related statistics to include
turnover, days to fill open positions, leave of absence data and
other key performance metrics. Identifies positive trends and areas
of opportunities; develops and implements mitigation strategies to
address areas of opportunities.
- Under guidance of Executive Director HR, NYBCe, uses surveys or
other mechanisms to gauge employee satisfaction.
- Keeps abreast of HR trends and best practices, regulatory and
employment law changes within scope of responsibility.
- Develops and maintains the HR budget.
- Promotes and develops a positive and engaging employee culture
that is consistent with organization's mission, vision, and
values.
- Participates in enterprise and divisional projects as
appropriate.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Travel within the division and to headquarters as needed.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business
Administration, or related field required. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP
highly desired. A minimum of 8 years of experience require d with
at least 5 years in a human resource management role and 3 years as
an HR Generalist. - Excellent verbal and written communication
skills.Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, conflict resolution,
and collaboration skills.Excellent organizational skills and
attention to detail.Strong analytical and problem-solving
skills.Strong change management skills.Ability to partner, consult,
and coach managers as a trusted and valued HR partner. Ability to
prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate. Ability to
act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.Thorough
knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations. Proficient
with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.Proficiency with or
the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent
