genital-tract condition, the urology team at Children’s Mercy
provides excellent care in a child-friendly environment. The
department has earned recognition as one of the top programs in the
nation by U.S. News & World Report. The urology team has expertise
in all aspects of urological care. Our providers are frequently a
part of specialty clinics for children with complex conditions that
involve coordinated care plans, such as GI, endocrine, and
colorectal conditions. Registered Nurses in the Surgery Clinics
provide illness management and health promotion for patients and
families who require hospital care. Registered staff nurses utilize
the nursing process and knowledge of scientific principles to
provide safe, high quality, comprehensive, and age appropriate
nursing care for their assigned patients. Registered staff nurses
provide patient and family education and advocate for their needs.
Registered nurses coordinate patient care with non-clinical
personnel as necessary. Urology clinic staff nurse job
responsibilities include clinic patient management in collaboration
with the provider and care team, collection and acquisition of
pertinent clinical records including labs/pathology, operative
reports, and radiology reports/imaging phone triage. Urology clinic
staff nurses will provide patient care coordination to ensure high
quality care delivery. Clinic nursing staff will participate in
performance improvement initiatives for the department and provide
clinical nursing support as needed to any services reporting up
through the Surgery Clinics. Urology Clinic staff are responsible
for understanding the surgery scheduling process and assisting as

the nursing process to develop and implement a safe, high quality,
comprehensive, and age-appropriate plan of care for the patient and
family that promotes optimal patient outcomes. - Meets the
educational needs of the patient and family and advocates for their
needs. - Maintains an environment that is safe, comfortable,
efficient, and family-centered. - Utilizes current research and
evidence for practice to expand personal professional knowledge,
enhance role performance, and improve nursing care quality.
/n/nQualifications:/n - Associate's Degree ADN Required. - Current
employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered and
permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. - Bachelor's
Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013. -
Nurses hired after this date without a BSN must complete their
degree within 5 years of their hire date. - One of the following
required upon hire: - Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse
Multistate License Kansas required upon hire - Licensed RN - MO,
Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon hire -
RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO - Employee must
obtain KS or MO multistate license within 30 days of hire - Refer
to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and
Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications

patient population (determined by Nurse Manager/Director) Preferred

pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job
begins at $31.00/hr, but your offer will be determined based on
your education and experience. /n/nRemote Work/Work from Home:/n
This position is not eligible to work remotely, which means that
the person hired will be required to work onsite at one of our
Children’s Mercy locations and may not work from home. /n/nEEO
