Job Summary and Qualifications Under the general supervision of the Blood Bank Section Manager, this role provides technical leadership and oversight for personnel within the section/laboratory. Responsibilities include planning and coordinating daily activities for laboratory staff, documenting performance, and making recommendations for evaluations or disciplinary actions. The position involves performing pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic biochemical and hematologic testing, investigating unexpected test results, monitoring quality control, and managing inventory of supplies and reagents. Maintaining a safe work environment and demonstrating professional work habits and interpersonal skills are essential. Participation in performance improvement initiatives, evaluation of new testing methodologies and instrumentation, and management of laboratory data are also key aspects of this role. The primary analytic testing responsibilities will focus on the Chemistry section, which includes Hematology, Urinalysis, and Special Chemistry. Required Qualifications A Bachelor’s Degree as a Medical Technologist (MT-AAB) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS). A minimum of 3 years of experience in an accredited laboratory is required. At least 2 years of experience in the technical area is preferred. Experience in a hospital laboratory setting is preferred. Our facility is a 585 bed hospital offering a wide range of medical and health clinic services, including women’s services such as obstetrics and fertility, an emergency room, and a trauma center. We also provide a Stroke Center, a walk-in clinic, and orthopedic services across three locations in Kansas City.
