Children’s Mercy has the only Level I pediatric trauma center in
the region – our Adele Hall campus ED has 39 beds, with staffing
support from 150 nurses and technicians, 40 APRNs, and over 40
physicians. We treat over 65,000 patients per year. Our 39 exam
rooms include 4 trauma rooms; 3 orthopedic rooms; 3 major medical
rooms; 4 triage rooms; and a Nurse Practitioner-led minor care area
with 10 beds and a separate waiting room for those patients. We
have a family room and private waiting room to offer privacy to
families at difficult times. We have three zones (Red, Yellow, and
Green) and nurses are scheduled in 4-hour blocks, typically
rotating to zones once or twice in their shift. Critical care
registered nurses provide illness management and health promotion
for patients and families who require intensive care. Critical care
registered staff nurses utilize the nursing process and knowledge
of scientific principles to provide safe, high quality,
comprehensive, and age appropriate nursing care for their assigned
patients in the intensive care areas of the hospital. Critical care
registered staff nurses provide patient and family education and
advocate for their needs, while coordinating patient care with
nonprofessional personnel as necessary. At Children’s Mercy, we are

/n/nResponsibilities:/n - Utilizes the nursing process to develop
and implement a safe, high quality, comprehensive, and
age-appropriate plan of care for the critically ill patient and
family that promotes optimal patient outcomes. - Meets the
educational and informational needs of the patient and family and
advocates for their needs. - Maintains an environment that is safe,
comfortable, efficient, and family centered. - Utilizes current
research and evidence for practice to expand personal professional
knowledge, enhance role performance, and improve nursing care
quality. /n/nQualifications:/n - Associate's Degree ADN Required.
Current employees hired before September 1, 2013 are grandfathered
and permitted to continue in the direct care nursing role. and 1-2
years experience 1-2 years of experience preferred or - Bachelor's
Degree Preferred for all nurses hired after September 1, 2013.
Nurses hired after this date without a BSN, must complete their
degree within 5 years of their hire date. and No Experience
necessary / On-the-Job Training - One of the following: Licensed RN
- MO, Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri required upon
hire - One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas, Registered Nurse
Multistate License Kansas required upon hire - RN Compact license
for all states besides KS and MO - Employees must obtain Licensed
RN - Kansas or equivalent within 90 days - Refer to Nursing and
Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for
required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire - Specialty
Nursing Certification encouraged for all eligible nurses Preferred

pay ranges are market competitive. The pay range for this job
begins at $33.43/hr, but your offer will be determined based on
