Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Renal PCU - Progressive Care Unit Discipline: RN Start Date: 02/02/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, nights Employment Type: Travel Opportunity: Registered Nurse - PCU Job Details: • Work in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with focus on renal/nephrology patients • Patient ratios: 1:5 (may flex to 1:6 on rare occasions) • 1-2 years of nursing experience required • 2 years of recent specialty experience required with renal transplant, PD catheter, hemodialysis, drains, TPN, wound care, diabetes encephalopathy, acute renal rejection, and thymo administration • Must have full year of in-specialty experience within past 12 months with no employment gap greater than 90 days • Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in 6-week schedule period (combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday) • Holiday shifts and charge RN assignments as needed • Required certifications: BLS, NIHSS • 12 hours of orientation provided • Float to other departments, units, and facilities as needed • Must hold both Kansas and Missouri nursing licenses or compact licenses • Required skills: cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, telemetry monitoring, rapid response teams, IV insulin protocols, pre/post hemodialysis management, accessing ports, blood product administration, central line care, PICC line management, heparin protocols, PCA, wound care/wound vac • Preferred skills: CVA management, surgical drains, chest tubes, tracheostomy management, thymo titration • Epic charting system experience required • Navy scrubs required • Maximum 7 days request time off allowed • Guaranteed 3 shifts per 13-week contract • Local candidates within 75-mile radius not accepted • 2 references required from past year Facility: This tertiary care hospital is a 456-bed teaching facility and 5-time Magnet Award winner, recognized as a Level 1 Trauma Center.
