Position: Substitute Registered Nurse, Missouri Schools for the Severely Disabled (MSSD)Reports to: Building Administrator Department: Elementary and Secondary EducationClassification: Part-time, Professional Office: Special EducationLocation: MSSD Section: Missouri Schools for the Severely DisabledPay Range: SP11 Job Group: 205Primarily responsible for the school health services to students attending the Missouri Schools for the SeverelyDisabled.Essential FunctionsThe incumbent must have the ability to perform the essential functions below either with or without reasonableaccommodations.

• Coordinate and implement a plan for health screenings.
• Coordinate, design and implement special health care procedures.
• Provide training on lifting techniques, basic first aid, infection-control procedures, dispensingmedication, CPR and other in-service as needed.
  • Administer medication and other health care procedures.
  • Follow proper nursing procedures and maintain appropriate documentation.
  • Seek out and use community health service resources.
  • Participate in staffing and IEP conferences to provide information on the student's physical and healthneeds when requested.
    • Oversee all SHCP. Make sure they are completed correctly and all necessary supplies are available.Notify parents if additional supplies are needed.
      • Utilize each student's individual communication system.
      • Take a leadership role in developing and implementing a comprehensive school health plan.
      • Accurately complete required reports on or before established deadlines.
      • Communicate effectively both orally and in written form, using correct grammar, punctuation, clarityand consistency of thought.
        • Collaborate with building administrator to maintain an orderly, attractive, safe, and clean environment.
        • Maintain CPR training instructor certification.
        • Maintain confidentiality of parent, student and staff personally identifiable information.
        • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook and access information via the internet.
        • Itinerant travel may be assigned as needed
        • Perform the daily self-care of students as needed and assigned (e.g., diapering, feeding, hand washing,tooth brushing, etc.)
          • Lift and move 50 pounds to include assisting in changing positions of students.
          • Itinerant travel may be assigned as needed.
          • Participate in staff development activities to keep nursing skills updated and current.
          • Infrequent travel for training and staff meetings.
          • Perform other duties as assigned.
          • Education Required/Preferred:Licensed as a registered nurse in Missouri.Experience With Pediatrics And/or Individuals With Disabilities.
