Job Description:

The University of Kansas is seeking a cardiologist with fellowship training in advanced heart failure to join a high performing team in the Department of Cardiology. It is an innovative team that has many device trials and performs approximately 50 transplants per year. Required Qualifications: Must have completed an accredited fellowship training in the management of Advanced Heart Failure, VAD and cardiac transplantation assessment and management of pre and post-transplant care. ABIM Board Certified or board eligible in Internal Medicine Cardiovascular Disease ABIM Certified or board eligible in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology Preferred Qualifications: Appropriately trained to perform the following: Complex heart failure management Pre and post VAD management Pre and post cardiac transplant management Clinical consultative cardiology Non-invasive imaging in cardiac ultrasound is a plus Job Duties Outlined: Day to day management in the inpatient and ambulatory settings of patients with advanced heart failure. Pre and post management of patients with circulatory support devices (LVAD). Pre and post management of patients with heart transplants. May participate in non-invasive imaging labs if certified. Participate in outcomes research in the area of Advanced Heart Failure and cardiovascular disease. Participation in scholarly activity derived primarily from clinical and educational activities. Provide training and oversight to residents and fellows rotating with the Advanced Heart Failure Service. Participate in covering night and weekend call in a similar fashion as other advanced heart failure cardiologists, including donor call.
