ResponsibilitiesThe position is for a Director of Bank Operations,
the position will have full accountability for UMB Bank's
Operations team including transaction processing areas including
deposit and payments transaction activity, incoming and outgoing
returns, lockbox (paper and electronic retail and wholesale), mail
room, ACH processing, domestic & international processing, emerging
payments such as instant payments and enterprise fraud team
members. Additionally, this role has responsibility for research &
adjustments, exception item processing, account reconciliation
process including payee and positive pay, account maintenance,
deposit operations, escheatment, deposit imaging and ATM
operations. The team works most weekends & holidays.
- Manages the accurate, timely processing of transactions, and
develops/implements operational-based compliance/front-line risk
strategy. Monitors regulatory compliance and accurate reporting
within all operational processes. Partners with business leaders
and other departments to ensure that the operations are
operationally prepared to meet market demand and client needs.
- Operations Oversight - Responsible for the production, quality,
and regulatory compliance of all site operations. Works closely
with internal technology teams and product managers to deliver
system or product upgrades with minimal client impact. Manages and
execute regulatory compliance functions.
- Risk Management - Manages risk mitigation efforts and projects
to protect the Bank against operational, strategic, reputational,
credit, and compliance risks. Ensures internal controls are in
place across to manage risk. Directs the continuous review of
exceptions, processes, and other areas with potential exposure.
Facilitates external and internal audits. Reviews reports and daily
processes to mitigate potential risks. Facilitates audits, business
initiatives, and other activities that impact the operations of
assigned area.
- Business Strategy - Develops and implements strategies that
enhance service levels and regulatory compliance within daily
operations. Forms strong partnerships with vendors, contractors,
and other mutually beneficial entities.
- Relationship Development - Develops and maintains influential
relationships with business leaders, and other key stakeholders to
ensure full support of Operations initiatives. Works closely with
business teams, clients, and other stakeholders to resolve issues
and provide high levels of service. Works closely with auditors,
regulatory agencies, and senior leadership in the monitoring and
review of department processes. Assigns managers their areas of
responsibilities and provides guidance as needed.Knowledge &
SkillsMINIMUM:
- Prior Bank Operations leadership experience
- Ability to understand concepts and new ideas quickly.
- Familiarity with core Risk Management methods as applied in a
financial services environment.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement initiatives, root cause
analysis.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with tact, confidentiality,
and professionalism.
- Strong strategic planning, project management, organizational
and workforce management skills Excellent strategic leadership
skills with the ability to influence and think outside the
box.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills - both written
and verbal.
- Ability to analyze, interpret and utilize significant data to
make sound business decisions.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast
paced, diverse, and growth-oriented environment.

skillsRequirementsKnowledge & SkillsMINIMUM:
- A BS/BA degree in information technology or related field
- 10+ years of experience in Bank Operations
- 3+ years of technology engineering experience
- 1+ years of Agile experience
- 5+ years of leadership and people management experience in a
technology environment
- 4+ years of experience managing geographically diverse
teamsPREFERRED:
- 5+ years of technology engineering experience
- 3+ years of Agile experience
- 10+ years of information technology experienceWork Environment
- Typical Office Environment, some travel may be
