  • Travel: Yes, 50 % of the TimeDescriptionProcess and Technology Group Leader - Water Global PracticeSuccessful growth and development of the Water Practice within Burns & McDonnell has led to the need for a more dedicated process and technology group to develop, leverage and grow process and technology expertise across the practice. With expanding opportunities in the water sector, especially with alternative delivery, development of innovative process technology solutions and approaches is anticipated to form a key component of our future growth and development. The Process and Technology Leader will be expected to coordinate, develop, create and support sales, engineering and project delivery with key resources through client development, capture, execution and project close out.Sales and Marketing - Supporting regional Global Practice Water leaders with client engagement activities such as client meetings, workshops, proposal preparation, interviews and relationship development with key client technical leaders.Project Delivery - supporting process development and selection of vendor equipment technology, scope and specifications. Development of commercial criteria such as performance testing, commissioning and acceptance for project close out. Resolve conflicts that may arise such as scope, performance, design and testing. Support development of commissioning plans for successful project completion and handover.Engineering - provision of process engineering documentation such as process flow diagrams, P&IDs, initial data sheets, specifications and process control narratives to communicate and develop with other engineering design leads.Job FunctionDevelop, and as necessary, establish communities of practice with anticipated speciality areas in water treatment, wastewater treatment - liquid and bio solids, industrial water supply and waste treatment, conveyance and collection and water supply and storage.With company leadership, develop career path for process and technology staff development and professional growth.Set utilization goals and manage staff assignment to support regional business development and project execution activities.Identify resource gaps based on engagement with regional leaders in alignment with business plans, develop recruitment plan and hiring strategy to address.Raise company industry technology profile through active and selective participation with key associations such as WEF, AWWA through committee representation, presentation and conference participation at the National and key regional association events.Be the commercial lead for process scope, lead negotiations with suppliers, develop and manage risk associated in the context of overall project and contract requirements.Bring innovative approaches to major proposals and project delivery to raise competitiveness in the market.Evaluation of teaming partners, whether engineering, O&M, or technology suppliers, to increase win rate.The Process Technology Director in our Water/Wastewater Global Practice is responsible for the managerial leadership and direction of Process Technology strategic business initiatives, client strategy and development and large team project management. The Process Technology Director will lead the department in a dynamic and profitable manner based on our Water Global Practice and Burns & McDonnell's core values of client satisfaction, commitment, dedication, integrity, safety and overall outstanding service.Manage development and execution of overall Process Technology strategic business initiatives to achieve goals and objectives.Provide direction and oversight of business development efforts in identification and vetting of prospective clients and projects. Responsible for business development activities aligning with business goals.Provide leadership to the Process Technology team; direct and coordinate the Department ensuring efficient and cost effective utilization of staff.Manage Process Technology business development efforts.Oversee the development of department tools and work flows to increase efficiency in designs, specification development, and project execution for Department.Direct oversight and management of Process Technology budget and expenditure of funds.Achieve stated targets and standards for Process Technology financial performance.Provide industry expertise with respect to the competition.Present monthly financial information to leadership including sales and revenue forecasts.Approve strategies for cross-selling engineering services across the organization.Responsible for ensuring alignment and support of Regional Office staff development, quality control and resource coordination.Recruits, hires, develops, and retains outstanding employee-owners.Responsible for conducting performance evaluation for selected department or direct reports.Responsible for interpreting policies, purposes and goals of the organization to Department Managers.Adheres and responsible for Burns & McDonnell Quality Control program.Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.Responsible for diversity initiatives.All other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor's degree in construction, engineering, business or related degree from an accredited program. A minimum of 15 years relevant consulting experience, preferably in the process industry and/or project management. 25 years of water experience preferred.Licensed Professional Engineer preferred.Expert experience in client and business development.Expert experience in managing projects, which includes proposal development, contract negotiations, project planning, design team coordination & communication, budgeting, schedule management, and client coordination.Expert facilitation, collaboration, organization, and problem solving skills.Demonstrated success as to budget, savings and/or profit margins in completed projects.Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead and manage.Excellent planning and analytical skills.Must demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; and the ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.Expert knowledge of project management methodologies and tools including the use of Microsoft Project or equivalent.Demonstrated experience leading process intensive projects with a construction value greater than $100MPrior experience managing at risk projects such as design build, EPC, CMAR delivery approachesClient and teaming partner network across the Americas desired.EEO/Minorities/Females/Disabled/VeteransBurns & McDonnell is a family of companies bringing together an unmatched team of 10,000 engineers, construction and craft professionals, architects, and more to design and build our critical infrastructure.
