This is a long-standing manufacturing company that is growing
and diversifying. They are incredibly employee-focused and have
very low turnover.
The company is looking for a strong Safety Manager with
manufacturing experience. They will be tasked with overseeing
safety for this plant Provides technical guidance and support to
operations in the resolution of safety issues. Drives a process of
continuous improvement by instituting safety goals that are aligned
to the company's objectives and communicating progress against
those goals. Develops, implements, and manages company practices to
assure the safety and security of fellow employees and the
facilities. This is a "hands-on" safety manager where you will have
the opportunity to work both in an office and on the plant
Directly lead, develop, and supervise the PSM Manager and EHS
Coordinator to support organizational goals. Indirectly lead and
develop the I Processing Leadership Process Management and
Development: Analyze and process specific job functions and
recommend necessary modifications to improve safety performance and
maintain proper equipment operation.
Interpret and apply appropriate procedures as required by the
local, state and federal laws.
Investigate and analyze incidents and unsafe acts, conduct root
cause analysis (RCA) and recommend required corrective and
preventative measures to mitigate reoccurrence.
Sampling analysis of potential exposures to employees - dust,
noise, hazardous chemicals, asbestos, etc.
Fill out and send to OSHA the yearly 300A Log. Maintain and keep
OSHA log records for the site. Compile and send out monthly TIR,
DART, and DAFWII.
Upkeep, calibrate, and maintain all documentation on monitors.
Responsible for Emergency Preparedness and Response including fire,
severe weather, and active threats
Institute safety goals that are aligned to the company's
objectives, track progress, publish results, and make proper
directional adjustments to meet or exceed each established
Provide safety training for all new and existing employees
according to OSHA Regulations. (NFPA, DOT, NEC, NIOSH, etc.).
Ensure that all programs, policies, and procedures are understood
and drive & hold accountability with managers and employees.
Coordinate and administer established safety training and ensure
that all programs, policies and procedures are understood and
Serve as Incident Commander when on site.
Coordinate / provide training and periodic certifications on
CPR/AED, first aid, ERT Team, and other necessary training.
Ensure all gear is inspected and in ready condition.
Assist with confined space entry coverage and pre-planning.
Facilitate Management Review Team, Quarterly Safety, EHS Key
Strategic Initiative Meetings, and many others associated with this
Assist in annual Safety Insurance Agency visits and Contractor
Conduct confined space permit and hot work permit audits
Develop annual EHS budget and monitor costs throughout the year
Responsible for assuring radios, mics and batteries are functioning
through the plant
Administrate Worker Compensation Program for all I Processing
employees. Work with Human Resources, WC doctors, insurance
carriers, and lawyers to help get employees back to work as soon as
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
Bachelor's Degree in safety, environment or related field of study
preferred (Heavy emphasis on safety); Equivalent combination of
education and experience will be accepted in lieu of degree.
Knowledge and understanding of OSHA, DOT and other Local, State and
Federal regulations applicable to safety, and health
Training in the following preferred
OSHA 40 hour 511 Course
Process Safety Management
Minimum 3+ years in a manufacturing setting, preferably in
chemicals or food industry
