Job Overview

Are you a seasoned Senior Quality Engineer who is obsessed with code quality, customer satisfaction, and user experience? At Olive we need you to ensure our products exceed customer expectations and help us drive the scalability of the Quality Team. This is a hands on role that gives you the ability to own daily testing activities, design internal testing tools and focus on improving company wide testing efficiency to ensure we are testing smarter - not harder. This is a great opportunity for someone who loves to solve ambiguous technical problems and is committed to implementing transformational change in a growing quality department.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • Design and execute manual and automated testing plans to identify software problems
  • Design, Implement and advance automated testing initiatives (Integration Testing, System Testing, Regression Testing) and Load Testing
  • Triage issues, bugs and errors found during testing and collaborate with engineers to resolve issues quickly
  • Own your technical stories and assignments- from writing code, clarifying requirements, meeting project timelines, and increasing overall test coverage
  • Participate and contribute in team Agile ceremonies, ensuring timely and accurate updates and feedback
  • Define requirements, design and maintain the test architecture, reusable frameworks and components required to implement an automation first approach to testing
  • Document project testing strategies, design test data and and testing tool requirements to ensure project success
  • Collaborate incessantly with Engineering and Product peers to improve code testability and align best practices to continually increase quality
  • Lead technical design, architecture discussions and participate in team code reviews
  • Identify gaps and provide solutions with internal testing libraries, tools, automation infrastructure, applications and systems
  • Partner with Quality stakeholders to identify and implement quality initiatives that will grow the efficiency of our team
  • Mentor and inspire a team of Quality Engineers by providing technical solutions to testing challenges to ensure release quality and production launch readiness
  • Assist in on-boarding, coaching and mentoring peers
    • You're a seasoned software quality engineer, ideally with 6+ years in Software Quality Engineering (QA, QE, SDET)
    • Proven experience in designing and delivering testing solutions to real world problems across a variety of technology stacks and programming languages with deep experience in several modern programming languages (e.g. JavaScript, Python, TypeScript, Ruby, etc..)
    • History of architecting trusted test automation patterns with high reliability and relevancy
    • Expert problem solver with deep experience in modern software quality and have specific experience that enables you to take on unique challenges and and drive change
    • Experienced developer, but also a tester that is considered highly knowledgable in the planning and execution of successful software delivery projects
    • You can quickly produce well-organized, optimized, and documented code
    • History of implementing a high level of effective test automation coverage (Contract, Integration, End-to-End) successfully, across multiple technologies and teams
    • Proven history of technical coaching and mentoring of team members, that significantly improved their career and their contributions to the team
    • Strong understanding of quality theory / best practices and Object Oriented Programming theory / best practices
    • Strong ability to debug code, analyzes failures, and trace defects to root causes
    • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and plan work in a rapidly changing environment
    • A never tiring advocate for software quality and able to partner with stakeholders to drive transformational change
    • Understanding of web technologies like HTML, CSS, JSON, APIs
    • Experience with Version Control Systems such as Gitlab, CodeCommit or Bitbucket
    • Experience with Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Visual Studio Code, JIRA/Confluence, AWS
    • Excellent organizational skills, and proven ability to prioritize your work
    • Strong analytical skills and can creatively solve problems in a fast-paced Agile environment
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate both problems and proposed solutions
