Job Description The Program Engineering Lead provides safe, creative, quality and "in place cost efficient" engineered building solutions and superior customer service for external customers with respect and consideration for internal customers (e.g. manufacturing, project management and field erection). The Program Engineering Lead is part of a dedicated engineering team supporting BlueScope Construction. The Lead oversees and directs project coordination, structural design services, project budgets and program support for individual clients and both key and potential program accounts. They promote, encourage, and support a collaborative work environment between Engineers, Technicians, Construction Project Managers, Project Clarifiers, and Estimators. The Program Engineering Lead provides advanced structural design and technical expertise to building development and solutions and assures customer design service needs are met. They both lead and contribute directly to project design work. The Lead champions both the company with customers and customers with the company to develop a partnering relationship that benefits both customers' facility needs and the company's fiscal goals. Primary Duties & Responsibilities

  • Direct the engineering team to provide efficient and well utilized building designs for detailing and manufacturing that meet customer requirements. Evaluate framing solutions and material types to provide cost effective building design based on an in-place constructed project. Mentor and train project engineers to lead projects.
  • Exceed customer expectations by developing corporate relationships to better address their overall company and facility objectives and processes. Obtain an intimate knowledge of their business model and processes to encourage the consideration of innovation, cost effective design, and timely project schedules to enhance the customer experience.
  • Determine customer requirements and budget constraints. Develop concept design and budget for review to meet their needs. Develop and monitor structural design project budgets for program accounts.--Track design solution metrics to meet company fiscal objectives and customer budget expectations.--
  • Develop and maintain customer relationship on key accounts plus build relationships with company field personnel, including sites visits and field inspections.
  • Lead progress coordination meetings with customers and their consultants to fully develop a project scope and define major project critical issues.
  • Ensure buildings' structural integrity and safety including a focus on construction "Design for Safety" as a part of every building solution discussion. Maintain Professional Engineering registrations and provide certification on structural designs.
  • Direct project team in achieving department objective and profitability goals to create a high-performance work team.--
  • Train and collaborate with engineers to evaluate and propose solutions for field issues.
  • Develop, monitor, and strengthen relationships with key material suppliers, vendors, and external engineering services. Qualifications Minimum--Education & Experience Qualifications
    • Bachelor of Science in Civil, Structural or Architectural Engineering
    • Professional or Structural Engineering registration
    • 10 years of experience with complex structural design projects
    • 10 years of pre-engineered metal building (PEMB) experience
    • Thorough knowledge of product, design procedures, and engineering systems applications
    • Experience in developing and managing strong customer relationships Preferred--Education & Experience Qualifications
