The Division offers coursework in educational leadership, educational foundations, and educational research at the masters and doctoral levels. THE INTENT OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT IS TO IDENTIFY A POOL OF ADJUNCT FACULTY WHO ARE QUALIFIED TO DELIVER GRADUATE LEVEL COURSES IN THE DIVISION OF EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP, POLICY AND FOUNDATIONS. Responsibilities of UMKC Part-time Faculty MembersCreate and maintain civil, inclusive and engaging learning environmentsRespect and support students' rights and responsibilitiesMaintain a safe learning environment and implement effective classroom management strategiesProvide engaging learning experiences and enticing activitiesFacilitate students' ability to work collaborativelyAccommodate students with disabilitiesAccommodate legitimate student absencesReport suspected student academic dishonesty 2. Deliver curriculum through high quality course instructionArticulate clear learning objectives for students in the courseClearly communicate expectations and course requirementsProvide high quality instructionEngage students in active and creative learning activitiesEngage students in critical thinking, problem solving, creative activity and reflectionCreate course materials (e.g., rubrics, handouts) as needed to effectively deliver curriculum and assess student learningUse technology to enhance learningIntegrate technology in teaching strategies when it is helpful to studentsProvide opportunities for students to use technology to solve problems 3. Assess student learning of course objectivesUse a variety of evaluation methodsUse the early alert system to identify students at risk of failing, when applicable (UMKC Connect)Provide students with prompt, objective, fair feedback on their workAssign grades and maintain student records in accordance with university policy 4. Adjunct faculty teaching in the School of Education are responsible for teaching regular courses as assigned by the Division Chairperson. Appointment These are term, non-tenure-accruing positions. Appointment periods are for the semester with consideration for reappointment.Minimum Qualifications Appropriate degree for the level of class being taughtExperience/training relevant to the content area being taught Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to urban issuesLicensure or certification, if applicablePreferred Qualifications Previous experience teaching at the university levelFamiliarity with various online management systems (e.g., Canvas)Full Time/Part Time Part TimeSalary A flat adjunct salary is determined based on level of education.Application Instructions A complete application includes (a) letter of application detailing desire and qualifications to teach in one or more of the areas listed above, (b) curriculum vita, (c) minimum of one current letter of recommendation (must be on letterhead and signed), and (d) verification of licensure or certification, if appropriate.
